She is the expert when it comes to hair texture, one of her mottos “It’s all about the texture, not the color of your skin”. Melayne has been dressing hair since the mid 80’s; she is a very meticulous hair dresser, you can say she is a perfectionist when it comes to her work. This lady is very serious about hair she pays close attention to detail and tells the truth… straight no chaser about hair. She has been doing hair for over 15 years, and has owned her present salon since 2006.
Melayne knows all about the importance of positive self- image and how first impressions are the most lasting due to her education in the fashion industry and art. She is armed with a background of art and beauty, her father was an artist, painter and sculptor, and her grandmother was a hair dresser. Her family has owned and operated hair, wig, and makeup accessories stores for more than 30 years in the Ohio area. Growing up in such a creative environment is a direct result of Melayne’s love and appreciation of art. She knows style and understands the importance of being versatile with your appearance!
She can do it all, from the latest cuts, styling and waxing, to the latest coloring and highlighting techniques. Melayne obtained her Cosmetology license from a high school vocational program sponsored by Mr. John Atchinson and Vidal Sassoon Inc., in cooperation with the Ohio board of education and the Catholic dioceses of Ohio. She later updated and renewed her professional status as a Master Cosmetologist in the late 80’s while residing in Georgia.
She received her Bachelors of Science degree in Human Resources from Georgia State University, as well as an Associates degree in Fashion Merchandising and Fashion Illustration from the Art Institute of Atlanta.
Melayne has seen many changes in the beauty industry. The biggest change is the need and opportunity for education. She is an excellent platform artist and motivational speaker with exceptional communication, organization, and presentation skills.
